Thank you for your patience, we appreciate it so much.
We are definitely moving forward, maybe not as fast as I would have liked, but we are getting there. As we said in the last update, we are raising funds through our old business. We have one main permanent contract in place and are pushing for more at the minute. There is a possible contract in the pipeline, which if we get, we are definitely back on track and will start producing the final pieces ready to ship. We are putting all of our effort into this at the moment because with these contracts in place, it will mean we can manufacture and start delivering the Kickstarter much quicker.
So, many thanks again and we hope that by the next update, we are very close to shipping.

First of all I would really like to thank you for all of the supportive comments and messages, this is much appreciated.
We discussed in the last update about returning to our previous industry to raise funds to finish and deliver your pledges. We own two large cnc machines and a laser cutter that we plan to run. This type of work is perfect because the machines do most of the work with very little labour so our man power can be concentrated on finishing the models. This has started off really well with a large contract for one of the cnc machines machining motorsport parts and we are currently marketing for work for the other.
We are also producing other products for gaming which we will sell through our online store, ebay & etsy, which include dice boxes similar to our Dragon Realms Kickstarter boxes. Again, the machines do most of the work with little labour.
We have been messaged by many of you requesting to pay for shipping a second time. We really appreciate this gesture, but would rather fulfill the pledges as promised and pay the shipping ourselves. Once we complete the manufacture we will revisit this and it could be an option.
So the main thing now is to push to raise the funds we require and we will get back to manufacture as soon as possible. We will keep you updated with our progress on a regular basis.
Thank you for your patience,

We know you have been waiting longer than expected for this update and that some of you have questions and concerns as to when this project will be fulfilled. We hope to answer your questions and give you a clearer picture of exactly what is happening here. We are very sad to read some of the negative comments and we just want you to know that we understand how you feel and we want to put your minds at rest as best we can.
First and foremost, we are going to fulfill this project.
Our main issue with the project at the moment is finances. This project was always more about getting the name and the brand out there, so we were making very little profit. As a lot of you may realise that prices of the miniatures + the stretch goals was low. Ours were approximately £2.50 in comparison to the industry average of nearer £5 for a mini with a metal base topper. So we knew that there was a fine line for staying on budget. Subsequently we've been hit with a large unexpected tax bill which has put us in the position we are now - very low on funds. To the point that we are unsure if we can actually pay the tax bill.
Additionally, we've had staffing issues, so the speed of the production, checking and packaging has been severely reduced. The whole point of the deadline was to ensure that the project didn't overun, but because it has, we are now in this financial position. We still have the same wages, rent, etc.
To compound the staffing issues, we were lead to believe that the quantities of the items had all been completed, but we now know that we are still short of several of the 28mm miniatures, a couple of the metal stretch goals and a couple of the resin items. I blame myself for not double checking what the member of staff had informed me.
So, you may be asking how we intend to move forward? We have been advised that liquidation is a possibility, where all responsibility is passed to the liquidators. This is not an option for us, as we set out to build the company and we are still determined to make this work. There has been suggestions about backers taking legal action against Z1 Design, in that situation we may be forced into winding up the company by HMRC. We intend to use the industry that we were in before we started the gaming to generate funds so that we can continue with the final production and ship the product.
So we still have to raise enough funds to complete the miniatures/items, and the shipping costs (shipping alone costs approximately £15,000 + VAT). We are not sure how long this will take, it could take 3 months, it could take 6 months, it could take longer. Whatever it takes we will make this work and fulfill the projects. We have too much to lose by not fulfilling - the designs, the moulds, the brand, etc..
We will update you as and when we have progress.
We're determined to make this to work as we value your support.
Packing Update and Addresses

We are currently spending our days in the workshop among boxes, bubble wrap, miniatures and more boxes! Packing is going slowly, as we're checking and double checking and then checking again. Our experience shipping previous Kickstarters plus the quantities involved and the amount of miniatures that are involved in this project, we know how conscientious we need to be packing. This is having a knock-on effect in terms of how long we think this process will now take. As we're looking at approximately an extra 3 weeks. The extra time taken means that when you receive your pledge everything that should be there, will be there.
Address Changes: We have had a handful of backers who've needed to update their addresses, as they are moving soon-ish. What we are doing is taking down the new address, moving date and then making a note to double check when the shipment is about to be dispatched as to which address items should be sent. If this sounds like something you may need us to do for you, please let us know. If you're a late backer who is reading this update via Backerkit email, please get in touch with us directly and we'll sort it for you. We are trying to answer all messages and emails as soon as we can.
